I saw the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme wear nail polishes

on sale at my Rexall drugstore last week. I told my friend

that they must be no good to be thrown in a sale bin.

Nevertheless, I decided to pick up a few and was very impressed

with the glitter one.

It usually takes me at least two coats of the higher end glitter polishes

to get enough glitter on my nails. However, one coat was all it

took to deposit tons of sparlke to my nails.

Since I like reading posts on monthly favourites

I thought I might start sharing a list of items I have bought

and liked using most for the past month.

FIRST UP....

1. Nude Nail Polish:

My Favourites (l to r): Sally Hanson,s pink slip 170,

Essie's sand tropez and Jacob,s pret-a-porter (Canadian brand)

ESSIE - SAND TROPEZ

2. Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer 03. This is indeed

a moisturizing long lasting bronzing powder. This

bronzer is way more subtle than my MAC -Sun Power

bronzer. It glides on the skin and blends effortly.

Simply pure quality.

3.Blushes: (l to r) Nars- Sin, and Mac,s Coppertone.

Just two colours I am loving now. Sin is the perfect

fall/winter blush. It is a mauve with a hint of gold

flex. Just enough to give your skin the lift it needs.

Coppertone on the other hand, is the perfect everday blush that goes with

everything. When I am in a rush to get ready in the morning

I can grab this blush and know I will not go wrong.

4. Speaking about being in a rush to put on make up....I have been

loving these three single eye shadows for the perfect quick looking

these days. Clockwise: NARS Galapagos, CHANEL 88 Vert Khaki

and MAC's Satin Taupe.

5. PRIMER. I am loving Korres Quercetin & Oak anti-aging primer

(can you tell by the tube :-)).

I love this so much because it reminds me of a very rich

moisturizer yet it gives my foundation & tinted moisturizer

staying power. It also does not contain silicone which is a BIG

plus for me. I dont like the feel of primers with silicone in them.

They often irritate the skin & clog pores.

6. Moisturizing Spray/Setting Spray. I have used

MAC Fix+ in the pass and like it . However I really

like how the mist is expelled from Caudalie Grape Water can. In

comparison to MAC's Fix+ it is like turing your shower

head from spraying really hard to light delicate mists.

This set my foundation perfectly.

Next to the spray is the lip balm which is made

to combat severe dry lips I get in the winter time.

7.My beloved 100% pure Argan oil.

Absolutely HG marvelous product (See earlier post).

8. SIBU Sea Buckthorn BalancingCleanser. Aaaah... the satisfaction one gets

from the discovery of a great product that is also natural.

I love the whole skincare line that is SIBU. Detailed

review coming up. I have found a brand of quality

non-irritating natural products that have replaced my

Origins skincare. SIBU's gentle balancing cleanser is

phenomenal.

9. On to the 6th bottle of this product. BIODERMA Sensibio H2O

The best most gentle make-up remover ever!

It will no doubt make it on my list of favourites

each month.

THUMBS DOWN TO......

10.Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blushes...

I dont like these at all...sorry!! The texture

and how they go on to the skin is disappointing.

IMO. I bought Peach Satin & Coffee Cake.

I will give them another try

Serious Skincare: Oils for the Oily/Combo Skin

Yes, I said it, oils for oily/combination skin!!

I know we were told to stay away from products

containing oils and for the most part this is true. HOWEVER,

there are some oils that are great for the skin-oily skin and dry skin. Why? Because

they mimic the oils produced by the skin thereby tricking the sebaceous gland

that there is enough oil so these glands slow down the production of oil.

If that makes any sense (it should). These oils are absorbed wonderfully into the

skin and will not clog the pores.

My personal preference is to use them at nights mixing a few drops into my moisturizer.

I have been using oils with my night moisturizer for over 11months now and

I have had no clogging of pores, acne or irritation. With long term use I have noticed

smoother skin texture, less oil production, and very few breakout (if any). BTW, my skin

is acne prone and I usually have an oil T-Zone.

Here are my all-time favourites:

This is my first bottle of the SIBU SEA BUCKTHORN OIL.

Traditional an Asian beauty treatment.

It claims to be therapeutic grade and I believe it. It takes away

redness and irritation from the skin. It is a light oil with

a wonderful smell. It is readily absorbed into the skin and has help

with my minor acne scarring. I have also used it on my dry scalp &

on small scratches. However, I mainly add this to my night moisturizer.

A little goes a long way.Two drops is all you need with this one. It is a bit

thicker than the others. Still light enough though.

Helps relive symptoms of acne, rosacea, eczema, etc.

Cost :CA$15.99 for 10ml bottle.

JOSIE MARAN ARGAN OIL

Argan Oil is grown in Morocco and is use historically to treat

skin problems such as acne, eczema, stretck marks etc.

It is filled with Vitamin E and essential fatty acids.

This oil is very lightweight and again absorbs quickly into the skin.

I personally use it on my face at nights, adding 2-3 drops in

my moisturizer or after I moisturize I warm a few drops into my hands

and press it into my skin. My skin look & feel amazing!!

The next morning my skin is supple and plump. I have noticed

smoother texture too. You can also apply this on your cuticle then add your hand cream.

This is my second bottle. HG product. Cost: CA$56.00

DESSERT ESSENCE JOJOBA OIL

Last but certainly not least, is my beloved Jojoba oil. This was the first

oil i tried when i decided to venture into facial oils. I did my research and found

that this type of oil is very similar to the one the skin produces. It is light,

easily absorbed into the skin and moisturizing.

Cost CA$14.99

SIDE NOTE:

There is a Kit at SEHORA that has the full size Argan oil

As I was shopping for fragrance at the Bay recently I

went by the Estee Lauder counter to take glance at the

new 2012 collection. It was then that this item caught my eye.

I was in love instantly!!

It comes in this sleek, chic gold package (my finger prints all over it).

Here she is (pictured below)!!!

Isn't she a beauty?!! I am so glad I got a hold of this one

since I had missed out on the Illuminating Power Gelee from their

previous collection. I do think this colour compliments my skin tone perfectly.

If you are medium to dark skin then this will be a winner!! If you are light skin\

you can still rock this too just with a light hand.

I am able to use this as a bronzer, highlighter, eyeshadow, browbone highlighter,

the possibilities are endless!! Price tag CA$45.00

I have been wanting to try the lip pencil in fig so I decided to get

that as well. It is such a natural subtle colour. I paired it with

the Loreal Colour Riche Lip Balm in Plush Plum and the

result was amazing. A natural pinky plummy (can I say that) look.

It comes with a refill and a lip brush at the opposite end of the pencil.

Price tag CA$32.00

I am wearing the Illuminating Powder Gelee- Topaz Chameleon

on my cheeks where I usually place my blush (see below).

The formula does not go on dry like a powder nor moist like

a cream product. Hard to describe but it just glides unto the

skin and blends into the other makeup seemlessly leaving

a sun kissed glow. I cant wait for spring/summer 2012!!

First Impression..Macadamia Natural Oil Products

I first saw this product line at the beauty salon while I went to

re-purchase my HG Elucence Products. I really wanted to give them a try

because of the Sulfate free, Paraben Free, & Colour safe tag.However, with the price

$24.00 for the shampoo and CA$33.00 for the 8oz hair mask I thought

I needed to investigate these more before I took the plunge.

Lucky for me, I bumped into them the very next week at WINNERS.

The Shampoo was CA$12.99 but no mask available. I went back to

my beauty supply store and got the travel pack masks at CA$2.99 for

each 1oz packet.

NOTE: IF you do the math, it's cheaper to buy the travel packets

plus it is more hygienic and less messy.

First Up The Shampoo:

THE REJUVINATING SHAMPOO

PRODUCT DETAILS:

Macadamia Rejuvenating Shampoo is a moisturizing shampoo for all hair types and is excellent for dry, damaged hair. The Rejuvenating Shampoo gently cleanses the hair while weightlessly replenishing moisture and protecting the hair from environmental elements.

My Thoughts: I felt instant softness to my hair with the first shampoo.

I thought my hair would feel weigh down because of the oils but not so.

Alhough it is sulfate free it suds very well and leaves the hair moisturized and tangle-free.

Aww, and the smell.It smells 'clean' if you know what I mean. Nothing over powering.

Next up:

THE DEEP REPAIR MASQUE

PRODUCT DETAILS:

My thoughts: At first when I felt the very thick & creamy texture

of the product I thought for sure this was going to just sit on top of

my hair!! After I slagthered it on it did seem to do that but after

I put a plastic cap on and sit for 7 min. my hair felt super soft. After

I rinse the softness stayed. The second time I tried this product I went under

a hooded dryer for 10min and people, even greater results (even though

the directions says you dont need heat). I love this product even more with

heat. You get strength & softness at the same time. So fare I have been really

impressed with this line.

They make a leave-in cream which I intend to try next.

This is a good product line to rotate with my Elucence products to shake things up a bit!

Revlon or Loreal?

I am referring to the New Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter

vs The Loreal Colour Riche Lip Balm SPF15. I finally got hold of

them both. I bought one from each brand because I just wanted

to see what all the frenzy about. Well, the one I am absolutely in love with is...

LOREAL COLOUR RICHE LIP BALM SPF 15.

It truly is moisturizing, and the colour is just enough.

I love every thing about this lip product! It does and is what

they claim it to be. You will have to re-apply within an hour or so

but that is common with many lip products .

Also, the packaging is so cute! It reminds me of a YSL or Dior.

I think Loreal has raised the bar. NICE!

The Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF15 (pic below) is my all time favourite lip balm/tint.

However, the Loreal Lip Balms have a wider selection of colours which

makes it unique.

purchases of 2011. I have not blogged about many of these

so this is the perfect post to update you on some items

I have really enjoyed getting my hands on this year.

In no particular order:

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes

I really love these blushes. I have raved about them all year long.

Dior Blush- Pink In Love.

Part of the Blue Tie Collection 2011.

The pink is subtle and smooth great quality.

This is the puurfect pink blush for me!

Goody Spin Pin

If you have long hair you should not be without these.

Before I had my hair chopped off in May 2011 I use

to rock these alot. Side buns, high buns, you name it !!

They are so gentle on the hair. They

NEVER snag the hair and are perfect for protective styles.

Studs Earrings

Since my hair cut last spring you would think I would

be into dangly earrings, but no! I just love interesting

stud earrings from the very cheap (Forever 21) to

the very pricey diamonds. I have just been drawn to

stud earrings all 2011.

Watches- Big Bold Statement Ones!!!

I have been sitting on the fence for a long time

when it came to Sigma brushes. I finally decided

to purchase a few this year. I can't tell the

difference between the quality of a Sigma and MAC

brush. They are of such great quality and so afforadable.

for raving about this palette. I don't regret buyin it!! So versitile.

Such great quality make-up. All the necessary items you need

are packed in this one palette. Great for travelling.

Philosophy's Shampoo Shower gel & Bubble Bath

They are bascially shower gels. They come in yummy

flavours like, Creme Brule, Fudge Cake, Vanilla Birthday cake

Cinnamon Bun. My fav holiday ones are Egg Nog &

Ginger Bread. I have been thru bottles of these, so moisturizing

and great smelling!! Such a treat in the shower or bath.

Kiehls Creme de Corps Body Lotion.

This was recommended to me by a beauty blogger yepanotherone.

People, If you suffer from ashy winter skin, this is

the best thing EVER to cure it. It is luxury hydration in a bottle.

It is a bit pricey but, I dont mind paying for quality.

Great stuff!!

David Yurman Fragrance

I recently did a post on this very sophisticated fragrance

At Home Glycolic Peel Kit

This kit has saved me hundreds of dollars not having to go my local

spa. I used to go once a month for a facial & AHA

peel. I soon discovered thru a friend who is an

aesthetician how to safely perform at home peels. They help

tremendously with breatouts, hyperpigmentation,

fading dark spots, reduce sebum production for us oily girls

and brightens the skin instantly!!

Sibu Skin Care.

This 100% Natural Skincare line that I found at Whole Foods

on a whim turned out to be a huge winner for my skin and

seem to have a hugh cult following ! I have been using them

for about 3months now taking a break from my beloved

Origins products.

Elta Md Skincare SPF 45

This is such a great sunscreen, made specially

for oily/combo acne prone skin. It is light weight oil-free and

spreads smoothly across the skin. It does not

leave a white cast on the skin either. Some people

are allergic to avebenzone which is NOT in this sunscreen.

It was recommended by my aesthetician. It is pricey but

well worth every penny. Very gentle yet effective product!!

Bobbi Brown stick Foundation/ Oil-free Tinted Moisturizer Spf15.

Gives me natural flawless looking skin. Just enough coverage if you have

good skin to begin with! Too Pricey though :-(

Dark Nail Polish-

For some strange reason I stayed away from these

in the past. However I have been obsessed with them

since late summer!

My Birkens- Birkenstock Sandals

This is another item I have known about for a long time

but have been sitting on the fence about.

I rocked these all summer long. They are so

comfy and feel like they are giving your foot

a well needed massage. I am getting more next year.

Silk Pure Almond

I use this as a substitute for milk. I have not drank dairy milk

for years. I was drinking soy but with all the controversy

around that I had to find something else and this is it!

It has all the calcium I need, 50% more than dairy milk!

(40% Vitamin D) & much more.

The SILK brand in my opinion, is the best. You cant really tell

you are not drinking milk.

There you go! That is my list!!

I am sure I will forget a few things once this

this is posted :-). Oh well...

Holiday Gifts...

Sometimes its just nice to splurge on yourself. Especially if

you know you have worked your butt off all year (which I have).
These are just a few items I got myself for year end...

I have been searching for the perfect gold tone chunky watch but didnt want

to get the Michael Kors design because I already own a rose-gold design

and to be honest I wanted something from another line. I looked at

design from Marc Jacobs, Diesel, Phillip Stein and finally settled on this

beauty- MOVADO BOLD (I am loving watches right now).

Best Drugstore Mascara....

IMO.....

(drumroll please).

PRESTIGE MY BLACKEST LASHES!!!!

This baby packs on the instant volume in the first go.

So impressive.

The formula is not too wet or dry just perfect and the older it gets

the better the application. I find that I need to take my time

while applying though or else it will get clumpy.

If you use a base/eyelash primer you will be blown away!!!

Your lashes will look great with this mascara.

It put my beloved Loreal Voluminous mascara to shame :-(.

If you like:

Bold Volumes on your lashes
Dark Dramatic looking lashes
Spider looking lashes; this is the one to try.

I have compared it to my Lancome HYPNOSE mascara (pic below) and

I almost want to say it is better. But in all honesty there is not a

difference hence my reason for loving this cheaper choice- Prestige My Blackest Lashes.

If you live in Canada you can buy this at Rexall Rx.

There is now a buy get one deal (BOGO) on plus it is on sale

for $6.00. I have bought six backups. I love it this much.

You should not have to pay $30 dollars for a mascara!! (although

I have been guilty of such crimes in the past).

I see no volume, the wand is too big and the formula too runny/ wet also it

does not evenly coat the wand.

The Dry'N Shape System!!

I dont believe I have said this before but I love love Sigma brushes.

They are pretty decent quality & I have never purchased one that has

disappoint me so far. The best thing is that most are comaprable to MAC

brushes at a fraction of the cost.

They recently came out with the Dry'n Shape System which looks like

a brushroll and claims it dry and shape the most dense makeup brushes in 4-6hours!

I was drawn to it because of both claims. Most times it takes my brushes

way longer than 4hours to get dry and it is a pain in the butt to set them so that

the hairs do not splay. I thought why not give this a try. I am so glad I did.

It was only $29.00.

This is awsome because can also travel with this as a brush holder.

What did I think after the first use? Well this was freaking true!

The brushes were dry in no time and....

The shape was like brand new!!!

Way to go Sigma!!

Raided Revlon Displays....

This is the scene at most of the Rexall drugstores that carries the
new Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters....

BTW, I was not interested in any colours left behind on display.

I know by now that if you live in the US you already have got your hands on a

couple of these but here in 'Oh Canada' we had to wait a bit

for them to show up at our counters.

They finally made their debut in Toronto last week at
our Rexall counters but has eluded me time and time again :-). They are
all the rave now (for many,not all) and some are even liking them to the
Chanel Rouge Coco Shine except more pigmented.

I just need to see for myself what all the hype is about !

Tis The Season To Wear Sequin & OOTN !

This holiday fashion trend seem to be sequin, sequin & more

sequin. I have seen sequin dresses, skirts, hats, gloves, scarves,

leggings etc. You name the item and it has sequin all over it!!

Though I love the trend, which seem appropriate for the season,
I dont plan on going overboard with it. As a matter of fact
I only bought this sequined blouse (in pic below). The only other clothing
item I would love to have is a dress!!!

Drugstore Round-up 2011!!

We are almost at the end of another year which I feel

has just gone by so unbelievably fast. It seem like it was just

yesterday It was summertime now we are already heading into 2012!?

All that said, I would like to do a post that I dont believe I have every

done before- DRUGSTORE SUPER FINDS!!

Though the world knows I love sephora I do also love going into
Shoppers Drug & Rexall here in Canada and spend time looking for
diamonds in the ruff :-).

In no particular order here they are....

EYEBROW PENCILS.
The two I have come to love are the Revlon's Brow fantasy
and Prestige's BrowPerfection. The revlon brand has a crayon
at one end and a tinted gel at the other. The crayon is very soft
and smooth in texture, very gentle on the brows. Though I love the
gel at the other end I rearly use them at the same time because for me
it will make my brows look too intense! I prefer a mor natural look.
Speaking of a natural look, the Prestige is my favourite of the two. Why?
because the colour (medium/deep) is just right for my almost jet black eyebrows.
The texture is smooth and there are two colours infused in this one crayon a deep
brown & a medium tone brown. The colour goes on natural. Amazing.

CLEANSERS

Clean & Clear Foaming Cleanser for Sensitive Skin

This is just a very simple, uncomplicated, to the point gel cleanser.

It has a few ingredients which just allow for a deep enough cleansing

of your face. After you are done washing, in about 5-10 minutes your

face is not dried out or tight. No irritants in this product.

CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser.

A very mild cleanser, much like Cetaphil but 10x better.

It is packed with Hyaluronic Acid & Ceramides-

naturally occuring components that helps restore skin's moisture

and help the skin protect itself. A great gentle cleanser for

the harsh winter months. I just wish it didnt have Parabens in its

ingredients :-(.

It is my favourite roll-on deodorant. Just keeps

me fresh longer than all the others I have tried. It just

works for me.

MASCARAMaybeline -LASH DISCOVERY- Mini Brush Mascara.

If you want a CLOSE dupe to the CLINIQUE's

Bottom Lash Mascara, then this is your guy. The

brush on this baby is so small & precise in it's application

it is no joke. You will not regret it. Seriously.

AVENE Hydrance Optimale moisturizer- A French Brand.

Again a very soothing and basic moisturizer

great for normal to combination skin. I use it

mostly after my at home chemical peel sessions to

soothe and moisturize my skin. It is also a great base before

applying make-up.

BENZOYL PEROXIDE has been one of my top favourite

face clearing miracle drugstore product of 2011. It was recommened

to me by my pharmacist. who would have thought?!! At $5.99??!!

I know it can be drying but I only use it every other night and I top

it off with moisturiser. Great Zit-buster. Keeps bacteria away.

Pretty decent stuff.

NAIL POLISH

NYX Nail polishes. I am a big fan! They are great with just one coat.

The colour range is awsome. One of my favourite is Titanic-09.

Great colour (intense mid-night blue) for the fall/winter months.

TONER

I generally do not use toners. However, I felt like

I just needed to swipe something gentle over my face

after I cleanse but I didnt want anything too harsh or

complex with a bunch of anti-aging, alcohol additives.

I searched high end & low end brands and came up with

good ole THAYERS- Witch Hazel. BUT, this one has

NO ALCOHOL and it is un-distilled...certified

organic. It has Aloe Vera, vgetable glycerin, grapefruit seed

extract, vitanin E and water.It leaves the skin soft & feeling refreshed.

I just love it!

MAKE-UP REMOVER

BIODERMA SENSIBIO H2O

Yes, I am still loving this product. I have been through

bottles this year. It is still a great make up remover/cleanser.

Amazing!!

Well there you have it people. My favourite drugstore finds

for 2011.

THE SMASHBOX PHOTO OP MEGA PALETTE- 78 SHADES

I have not been so excited about a palette since

the Urban Decay NAKED palette was released!!!

Smashbox has outdone themselves with this palette (well not exactly).

It is a pretty impressive Holiday Special compared to others that I have seen so far.

They have included their best selling/ newely formulated

shadows along with other goodies in this palette.

I could see myself packing this alone with my make up tool for my vacation.

This exciting palette contains:

56 Photo Op Eye Shadows,
4 Brow Tech Powders,

A Pre-Holiday Treat...

I went to the David Yurman counter at Holt Renfrew department store
last week to see if they would take my David Yurman watch in for cleaning

and replacement of the battery . As I waited for the SA I saw three

fragrances displayed on top of the showcase. "Hmmm, I heard

he came out with one fragrance but this is three!" I said to my hubby.

I began to spray them and found I was really fond of one particular scent.

As I investigated further, the SA told me that these scents were really

summer time scents and that his Signature scent was over in the perfume section.

So off we went to see this Signature scent.
I fell in love with the smell of this perfume

immediately !!! After it settled I loved it even more !!

Initially, I was only interested in the perfume, however the SA told me they

had a gift set special for CA$150.00 which included the 50ml eau de parfum,

the 5ml travel size parfum & the200ml luxurious body lotion.

The 50ml alone cost CA$130.00 hence my choice to go with the set.

About this fragrance:

It is not for everyone. I find the smell very sophisticated, sensual and

complex. It is like nothing I have ever smelled before. I could not even

find a base or top notes or anykind for that matter to describe what I was smelling.

You know when you smell a fragrance for the first time you are familiar with

some of the notes in them? You either smell a distinct floral, woody, fruity,

vanilla etc smell.

Well, not so with this David Yurman perfume!

It blew me away how mysterious the smell was and so I had to have it!!

It is luxurious and smells like you paid a lot of money for it!

Right up my alley :-).

The bottle is beautiful in gold, set in a crystal flask, so to speak.

Absolutely classy looking.

It would make a very special gift for a very special someone for the holiday.

Hair We Go.....

I have been asked what my current hair care

routine is now that it is shorter. Well not much have

changed in terms of my products. I have added

a few new products to my arsenal. As for the rountine,

I visit the hair salon at least once a week (much to my dismay)

to maintain my very short hair style.

This is what it looks like now...

Routine:

I shampoo & condition once a week with

Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo (gentle enough

to use weekly), followed by Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo,

then Moisture Balancing Conditioner.

I have not stopped using these since I found them over

a year ago. Though I was one to hoard hair care products

I have not bought any other shampoo/conditioner system since

I found these... They are just what my hair need.

I do rotate with the ABBA line from time to time.

I deep condition twice a month with

Elucence Extended Moisture Repair Treatment (below).

Ladies & gents this stuff is damn good for the winter months

as a deep penetrating conditioner.

It was formulated for extremely dry, damaged or breaking hair.

I know most of you can attest to how dry & brittle our hair can become

during the winter months. This is the time I get most shedding, breakage

etc therefore I have to pull out the big guns.

I also add Argan oil (pictured left below)

to my deep contitioner whenever I feel my hair

need it. Sometimes I use the oil on its own as a pre-shampoo

hot oil treatment.

Because I flat iron at least once a week

I use the Nioxin Volumizing Thermal Protector

that doubles as my leave-in and thermal/heat protectant.

It detangles nicely & make a big difference in the

look & feel of my hair when I am done.

That is how simple I have kept my routine.

I only wish I could cut down my visits to the

salon to once every 6wks. I think the do more damage

than good going so often. The pulling,

and snagging on my hair is a pain.

However I take my products in with me

and I stay very involved in the whole process.

They are by Me Too New York-MTNY.

Swade leather uppers.

I wear them with dresses, skirts, leggings, jeans (skinnys & wide leg)

and just about anything that will go with them :-).

They are a bit dusty but I love them...

The ruffle top make them look a bit more chic.

I think you only benefit from this discount if you purchase pricey items

that you have been eyeing for a long time but didnt want to take the plunge.

Here are a few stuff I picked up...

I really went to get my hands on the Bobbi Brown Blush brush CAD$60.00 that

I have been eyeing now for a year and a half and to try their foundation

stick which I heard good thing about. The rest I just got because I thought they

were great deals.

I got two more shades in the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush line,

Exposed & Flush along with their stick concealer in the shade Golden.

Below are the Fresh Lip balms I have been eager to

try but didnt see the need to pay CA$26.00 . I

saw the three pack holiday special for only $32

so I thought this is my chance to see what all the

hype is about. I also got the Urban Decay 24/7

shadow pencil sticks for a great deal too $41.00

for all 5 colours!!

Some Buxom lipgloss because I love them &

pigment eye shadow..

I thought I scored with this Korres Guava Indulgences

gift package because I love love love the Guava scent by

Korres and find the body creams very moisturizing.

The entire set cost me $33.00. The body wash alone is

regularly $33.

Listen, I have been loving the Philosophy bath gel/bubble bath it's

not funny!! I have ran through the Chocolate, Cinnamon bun (twice)

and now the Eggnog scent...very creamy and the smell lingers on the body for hours.

I repurchased a new Clarisonic brush head. Usually

$29 bucks.

Finally, Mr Binx loving Sephora too!!!

I celebrated a Birthday this weekend and what

a great weekend it was! My family is in town visiting,

and It could not get better than that for me.

The weekend started with this set up in my lunchroom

at work......

PINK CUPCAKES!!!

Notice the little black & white bag sitting in the corner?!

It was loaded with a gift card and you all know how much I love Sephora !!

My manager later on gave me a bottle of red wine!!

I had dinner with the family which I totally enjoyed!

We laughed so hard at the table...it was a blast!

The next day my hubby came thru with this very exquisite gift...

If you remember in an earlier post I mentioned how much I

adore the Michele watches and showed my hubby one

with hopes of getting one for my birthday. Well ....he did !

I think he got me an even nicer one than I anticipated.

The small pouch above contains a white silicone band which was

a gift with purchase.

She is such a timeless beauty.

Do you remember the post sometime ago sharing

my minimalist brush collection......

Things have changed quite a bit since then....

This is what my collection look like now minus I few

of the older ones... i have just been on a brush kick since then.

I have always heard great things about Sigma brushes. Like,

how comparable they are to MAC brushes, reasonably priced etc.

Truthfully, didn't think that it could be true.

Alas, I gave in and ordered a few...

They came nicely packaged with detailed instructions about

their suggested use (so far I am impressed).

Top Row:

Sigma Eye Shading- E55-LOVE IT!! (MAC 239 dupe)

Sigma Pencil -E30- Love this too (very soft).

The very popular Sigma Flat Top Kabuki (haven't tried this one yet),

Sigma Tapered Highlighter-F35- Very delicate. Another Fav.

Sigma Duo Fibre-F80 (MAC 187 dupe). The Sigma one

sheds plus is not as dense which is very annoying for me!

I prefer my MAC 187.

I also received this Sigma Blending E25 (MAC 217 dupe).

I am loving this too soft and works just as well as the MAC 217 IMO!!!

I definitely will be ordering backups of the E25 blending and

the E55 eye shading. BTW they are very affordable most were US$10 or $15.

They are available at Sigma.

kept looking at my legs. Finally she said,

Summer Loves....

So friends, summer officially began last week and I

am extremely happy it is here!!

Some of my favourite things to do are,

riding my bike to the boardwalk to get ice-cream, see

a concert or just hang out in Dundas Square late at night.

Aaaaah Summertime.

Summertime is also when I change up my beauty

routine, eg foundation, skincare etc. I have a few items

to share that i have just been loving for the warmer weather.

Take a look......

1. ALL THINGS CORAL.....

I think coral tone blushes, lipsticks & lipgloss are a must

for summer. Summer + Coral = Haute !

My favourite blushes for summer are (clockwise):

NARS-Torrid, TARTE'S-Tipsy (ammmazing!),

MAC's- Ripe Peach Ombre, MAC'S -Gingerly.

These are just the ones I reach for most often from my collection.

Also love my Tarte's Amazoin Clay Blushes for their staying power

on hot summer days when our makeup tends to melt off our skin quickly.

Clockwise: Natural Beauty (red tone), Tipsy (true coral), Amused

(true pink). LOVE THEM!!!

NARS Lipgloss in Wonder (more orange in colour)

2. HIGHLIGHTERS/SHIMMERS......

I know many love NARS' Albatross but I found a beautiful,

silky one from the sassy Balm Cosmetics line at Sephora.

It is a highlighter, shimmer & eye-shadow all in one.

It looks white in the pan but goes on to the skin

so subtle. It is just give the perfect sheen!!!

3. BRONZERS....

I found this amazing one that is just the right shade for my

skin tone. It is new from MAC. It is called Sun Power.

It also doubles as a blush too.

When I pair these two smoothies together ...oooh lala !!!

I cant stop checking the mirror....

As for skincare....

4. SUNSCREEN

Still using mostly Origins products, however I have change

my sunscreen to this one...

It is by La Roche Posay. It is a lite weight fluid/lotion that melts into

the skin with ease I still give my skin a soft to the touch feel.

It is fragrance free,

paraben free,

lighter in chemical filters,

non-comedogenic,

all the qualities I look for these days in my skin care products.

One con is it leaves a slight white cast on the skin- not obvious but

I can when I look closely.

5. CLEANSER

Another great product by La Roche Posay. It is from the

Toleriane line. This line has ingredients to calm sensitive,

combination to oily skin. It cleans the skin yet does not strip

it of its moisture. No sulfates or parabens inside either. It foams

differently from other foaming cleansers. It's milky instead of sudsy-

if you get what a mean. A more gentle foaming action.

I use it mostly mornings then follow with the sunscreen.

Tip- It works GREAT with the Clarisonic

5. BOLD LIPS

Nude face & bold lips are the trend this season and

my favourite combo includes, NYX's lip pencil in

835 Pinky and MAC's lipstick in 'Girl About Town'.

Stunning is the word to describe these two together.

6. FRAGRANCES

I love the smell of Philosophy's Cinnamon Buns, shampoo, bubble

bath, shower cream. Yummy Yummy!!!

My Channel Allure perfume is such a summer wonderful summer

fragrance. The smell stays with you until your next shower :-).

they are comfy the may be less appealing than

there counterpart, the stiletto.

The Hubby always liked these shoes. He says they are

easy going just like him (sometimes :-)). Also their

One for One motto means that for ever pair sold Toms

will give another pair to a child in need. That's great!!

My search was over when I ran into the last

one at Shoppers 3 weeks ago!! As added bonus

I recievied 10x the usual points for picking it up!

Price CA$85.00 with taxes.

Isn't she a beauty??!!!

(Thank God for my iphone, it picked up the colors beautifully)

It comes in four shades orange, fuchsia, soft pink

and pearl pink. At first when I saw it I thought

it might not work for me just like Orgasm by NARS

but the orange shade in it makes it very much wearable

for us brown skin gals too. It is not glittery at all. Just

has a modest sheen. Pretty!!!

It also comes with a velvet pouch, and a

small brush which I will not use but never the less, cute!

I was also excited for this very next Sephora purchase....

Tarte Amazonian 12hr Clay Blush!!!

Oh my!! I could dump all my blushes and buy

them ALL!!!!!! (...no I would not!! :-0).

These blushes are so beautiful and most of all,

the part I love, they are great for the skin!!!

They are great for oily & dry skin. They were made

from natural clay harvested from the Amazon River

-naturally baked etc... all that good stuff.

They are paraben, petro chemicals, & sulphates etc free,

very pigmented and blends like a dream, really !!!

Dont know if they last 12hrs but i know they go up to 9hrs on me.

Price CA$33.00

How brilliant is this color. This shade is called NATURAL BEAUTY.

Another plus about these blushes is that the color of the blush is the

exact color of the case. Matches to a T. For those of you who

have a blush palette, there is a small hole at the back that you can

push to get the blush out with ease!!!

A Match Made in Heaven for Eyes & Face

Throw away your MAC, Neutrogena or makeup wipes

and/or eye make-up removers. I have two very remarkable products
to tell you about!!

These two products have become second time around

favorites of mine. I have use them before in the past but

not together. I made a repurchase of these gems and decided

to pair them together and the results... A Match made in make-up heaven!

BELOW:

This is the BIODERMA Sensibio H2O . Sensitive skin. Fragrance free.

It's a great French product used to remove eye & face make-up.

This product is used by many make-up artist to the stars. Check out

make-up artist to the stars, Lisa Eldridge's review.

All I do is soak the cotton square with the formula and wipe the

make-up from my eyes & face then gently dry my face.

I find it extremey mild & soothing. It feels like water on your face

non-drying. I dont use it on my face all the time because I have facial oils

for removing my make-up. It is the best thing ever for my eyes area. Very conditioning.

It retails for CA$22.00 worth every penny.

If you live in Canada you can pick it up at Shoppers Drug. I dont think it

is available in the States but I have heard it is sold on Ebay. It is also available in Europe.

BELOW:
SHISEIDO Facial Cotton Squares
OK, so these cotton squares are not cheap BUT...the texture is so
soft, smooth, gentle & it's durable!!! They will not shed, seperate (well bonded) or scratch the
face. You only need minimal product for these squares. It is a must
have. PERFECT for the delicate eye area.
You can use the cheapie cotton for the rest of your face and the SHISEIDO for your
eye area. However, for me, CA$8.00 is not too much for a taste of heaven
for my face ;-)

Product put to the test:
I have eye shadow, lipstick, mascara, eyeliner swatched
on my hand. I also did not apply hand cream...

One single swipe of the Bioderma (held on arm for 5 seconds).
Take a look...

It is all gone...

Just great!!!

Let's Talk Skincare (mine that is)

How do I begin....Skincare (a big sigh). It took me some

time to figure out what are some the best things to do

to keep this combination/oily, acne-prone skin under control .

Half the battle is won when you know for sure your skin type,

because then you are able to find the right products to tailor

to that specific skin type's need.

I didn't have acne as a teen. I started to have pesky problems

as an adult. When I say acne I mean, mild acne however

annoying enough to want to do some thing about it.

Fast forward to the present I think there are two

products (Retin-A & Sunscreen) in addition to these steps

that has helped me keep my skin in good condition.

MORNING ROUTINE

1. I ALWAYS wash my face with a mild cleanser in the a.m.

Why? because I think I have given it such a good cleanse the

night before and had all my treatments, the skin is well rested

so I feel this is when I should be gentle with it!

I wash with Origins Pure Cream Rinseable Cleanser.

2. I then wipe it off with a Muslin cloth(love them) and apply

sunscreen (A MAJOR STEP IN KEEPING MY SKIN

IN GREAT CONDITION). I never ever leave my home

without sunscreen. I now use Origins A Perfect World SPF 25 Age

defence moisturizer with White Tea.

Your skin will thank you in years to come.

If I wear makeup I will put it on at this point. I wear mineral

make up which is great for combination/oily skin.

That's it for the day! Pretty simple.

NIGHT TIME ROUTINE

1. Since I came across cleansing oils I cannot perform my evening

cleansing ritual without first starting with an oil cleaser. I do this

step ALL year round. I have used the Dermalogica brand in the pass

but now I am on to the Origins & Boscia brands. I love them all!! There is

a chemistry to this oil on oil cleansing that is so amazing!!

2. Next I follow with a regular cleanser. I am in love with Origins

Zero Oil deep pore cleanser with Saw Palmetto and Mint.

The Zero Oil Cleanser is not at all drying or stripping to the skin. I have

been through many bottles of this stuff, its just great!

I use my Clarisonic Mia with the cleanser

After I am done with this step I let my face air dry (less pulling & tugging :-))

3. At this point I appy either of my treatment creams. Take a look;

Top : Tretinoin Cream 0.025%(also known as Retin-A, Retinol etc). This

was prescribed by my dermatologist. This cream has changed my life!!!

No joke it is the one cream that will not change from my skincare routine!!

It has kept acne away, kept my skin color even & smooth -hyperpigmentation

and there is not one wrinkle anywhere on this face (due to good genes too :)).

It exfoliates like no other. It is a life savior and many women & men with

good skin have this included somewhere in there routine. Warning:

YOU MUST WEAR SUNSCREEN DAILY WHEN YOU USE THIS

AT NIGHTS!!!

Bottom: A Benzoyl Peroxide gel 5%. I use it on those nights

I see a pimple and want it gone by morning! I mostly use this in the summer time

but my Retinol I use all year round!! I do not use them together.

After I apply my Tretinon/Retin-A cream I wait 20mins then apply

one of my favourite night moisturizers.

Twice a week I use a Mask they are both by Origins

MAINTENANCE

To help keep my skin in tip top shape I take regular

facials (at least every month and a half). I also

get chemical peels. These I dont get as often.

I will do a post on this topic the next time I get one done.

:::TIP:::

Always wear sunscreen, and think about incooperating

a retinol in your skincare regimen. Drink lots & lots of H2O!!!

Best Beauty Friends for 2010!!

2010 was a relatively good & productive year for me.

It ended with a bang!! I will share the suprise at the end of

January or early february. Hope 2011 will be an even better

year for all of us.

As it relates to beauty, I have prepared a list of some awsome

products (some holy grail) that I am happy came into my life :-)

1. ORIGINS SKINCARE

I did a post on the Skinceuticals line which I had hope to try out.

HOWEVER it became very hard to locate some of the

key products that I wanted to use from the line & the

shipping costs were just ridiculous. I decided to

try Origins skincare line because I have always wanted to

try this line too. I must say after using them for at

least 6months, I am in love! No parabens, mineral oils etc.

Almost all natural. More detailed review later.

2. MUSLIN CLOTHS

These simple yet extremely effective face cloths (Body Shop) manually

exfoliates like no other. They make my list every year because

they clean the face sooooo freaking good & they are very gentle.

3. THE CLARISONIC SONIC SKIN CLEANSING SYSYEM (MIA)

Santa was good enough to get me this for christmas.

I am really enjoying the Mia so far but I would like to use it for at least

a month to see if all the claims are true. So far very good!!

4. NAKED PALETTE by URBAN DECAY

Need I say more !!!

5. DIORSKIN SHIMMER POWDER- AMBER DIAMOND

This is such a versatile shimmer powder. I use it to highlight my

cheek bones, as an all over powder for the perfect subtle glow

& as an eye shadow too. It is the only shimmer powder I own.

It gives a natural sheen never frosty. Loves it!!

Lovely packaging, so chic!

6. LUSH BUFFY BAR

(This is NOT a soap)

My skin get so dry & itchy during the winter months

and no matter how much lotion I rub on, I dry out in about half an hour

EXCEPT when I use this bad boy. It exfoliates & moisturizes

my body very well. I do not need to lotion my body after my shower

once I rub this stuff on. Made mainly with coco butter and almond.

I use it after my body wash. Rinse off & you are good to go.

7.AMAZING COSMETICS VELVET MINERAL LOOSE &

COMPACT POWDER.

This product is my one and only foundation. It is everything

the name says...AMAZING!! VELVET!!! MINERAL.

8. THE SEPHORA MINERAL BRUSH #45

Just a GREAT, GREAT brush.

9.BLUSHES!!!!! Ahhhh.

I am glad I got into them!!! I love them all!!

Mac's CHAM-PALE Collection...

I was passing by the MAC store over the holidays and

saw the new Cham-Pale collection. Most of the

colors are nudy, natural right up my street. However

(a big however) the colors are too frosty for my liking.

Over all its a nice subtle collection but since I have the

Naked palette I took a pass on most of the eye stuff!!

One thing that really caught my eye was the Rose' Ole'

Special Reseve Highlight Powder.

It looks absolutely beautiful on the skin!!! It is

is not glittery instead it gives a very smooth

sheen to the skin. I Wore it to dinner last night and

my hubby said my skin looks "nice & glowy" .

I love the textured look of it in the pot too! Pretty.

Complexion Perfection

I have mentioned a couple of times in previous

posts of my love of mineral makeup,

particularly the mineral foundations. My

favourite is by a brand called,

Their concealer has a huge cult following of

many make-up artists to the stars.

My favourite product is theVelvet Mineral Foundation

(loose power form) which looks like this...

HOWEVER, when it was time to re-purchase, to my dismay,

I found out the Sephora here does not carry it anymore :-(

I almost lost my mind because now it means I would have to order

online and almost everthing you order from the US to

Canada has ridiculous shipping costs & customs fees.

I decided to order it online anyway because it goes

on so smooth & soft, gives my skin the most

luminous finish, contains no talc, dyes, parabens or

that awful irritant bisthmus oxychloride,

BUT MOST OF ALL...NO

BREAKOUTS!!!

The only con is that it tends to come of

grayish in pics when I wear sunscreen under it.

I hear this is the case with most foundations when

sunscreen is applied. In person it looks perrrrfect though.

Just makes me look like I have great skin.

Today when I went to Sephora I found the same formula in

the pressed powder. I decided to perchase it too so I could try it out

until my loose mineral get here. The sales associate said it

is the same only in the compact so you can carry around with you.

I have'nt used it yet but I am expecting much.... I will update

in this same post. This is what it looks like...

Oprah Winfery A Lesbian???!!

I think she pretty much set the record

straight (no pun intended) last night on the

Barbara Walters Special: Oprah, The Next Chapter.

If that was not convincing enough for most of us, I dont know

what else she can do to dispel these ugly rumors.

I damn near bawled my eyes out when she said (about Gayle):

"She is the mother I never had, the sister everyone would want.

She is the friend everyone deserves." So sad that

many of us can't understand their close frendship/conx/bond. Could

it be because many of us have never been blessed enough to have such

a person in our life we cannot fathom the idea (food for thought)?

This interview was one of the most personal for Oprah. Only

Barbara Walters could have made it such a tear jerking experience.

She has been though hell in her past and deserves everything

that she has achieved (thru hard work) today. She is such an amazing

woman and I look forward to her next chapter- OWN.

Diamonds R A Girl's Best Friend!!!

Today (December 7) is my anniversary & my lovely

hubby bought me this black & white diamond

set! I took the pic with my iphone because I just

could not get a clear shot with my camera :-(

all I kept seeing were lights !!

We both have the day off and our plans are, to

have brunch at our favourite restaurant Coras,

and then do a bit of shopping.

Later in the evening we plan to see the musical,

Holiday Haul

I have been sick with the flu for the past week

and a half but i am feeling much better now. Still

dont have the guts to get the flu shot. :-)

Here are a few things I picked up a couple of weeks ago I'd

like to share.

I picked up this tunic dress at H&M for $40.00

great for a holiday party. I would love to pair it with

red pumps. I bought another dress from a Canadian

store Jacobs. The print is black & white too, it is a short dress

too, looks quite similar to this one but it has ruffles so i had to have it.

These boots are by Zigi New York. I got them at

a shoe store in Toronto called Icon. they were $80.00.

They are not leather, not too comfy but hella cute with

leddings & socks. Stay tuned for an upcomming look with these.

I have mentioned in a previous post about my new

obsession with blushers. I have since added a new blush brush

to the collection. It's the SMASHBOX #16 blush brush $46.00. It is

super soft, and dome shaped at the top. I also picked up this

high shine lip gloss $22.00.

I also picked up this Argan Oil treatment for my hair

at Winners. It is to be used on wet hair (towel dried).

I will do a seperate review after I have used it. The

texture felt awsome on my hand. Now the true test will be my winter

hair. Smells great too! Retails for $48.00...winners price $20.00.

I love my body creams & butters during these harsh Canadian

winter months. :-) I am a huge fan of Origins & Carols Daughters

body products. Love their smells & the fact that their products

are paraben, mineral oil free etc. This Ginger Rush cream is the bomb.

Your body will soak up the moisture, and it not greasy.

It was $40.00.

I love wearing these two together. The perfume has

a soft ginger note so when you add Origins Ginger

Rush cream on top. Ahhh.Amazing combo.

Repurchased my fav body cream. Carol's Daughter Almond

Cookie Sheaa Souffle $30.00. This is such a delightful cream. The smell

and moisture lingers on for hrs. Mmmmmm! :-)

I really am a minimalist when it comes to make-up :-p

However have just been lovin' BLUSHES!!!

I think a pop of blush adds life to every face young of old.

I only wear mineral foundation & the one that works

perfect for my skin is the AMAZING Cosmetics'

Velvet Mineral Foundation. I have placed it in the

middle of all the blushes. Blushes on the other hand are

a recent obsession of mine.

The Body Shop cheek color #5 (a favourite)
NARS Love Joy
NARS Torrid (all-time Favourite... darker skin version of Orgasm).
MAC Blush Ombre in Ripe Peach
Cargo Blush in Laguna (a favourite..lovely when used with a light hand)
MAC Darkly My Dear (from the Venomous Villians Cruella De Vil collection).
Tarina Tarantino doll skin cheek in Carved Rose (a favourite).
MAC Mineralize blush in Light Over Dark.

These are a few of my favourite brushes that i use to apply my blush...They

are mostly multi-purpose brushes.

From Top to Bottom:

MAC 187 (for lighter application on the more pigmented blush)
MAC 109 (gives me a nice flush application)
QUO Professional Blush (very soft)...Canadian brand.
Sephora #45 mineral brush...(does a great job on the apples of my cheeks).
Posh Angled Blush brush...(cheapie that works very well, soft does not shed)

I am wearing MAC's Darkly My Dear.

Tip : If you have oily skin PLEASE stay away from

glittery blushes that tend to emphasize pores. Matte or

stain finishes are much better options.
EDIT TO ADD : I have combination/oily skin
so I try to stick to the powder blushes. Creams
emphasize my pores too much.

I am on the hunt for a non-mineral foundation that is light

weight, and wont clog my pores. While mineral foundations

are natural looking & more healthier for the skin, they tend to

leave a white cast on the face in pictures. Any Suggestions!!!

It has been a while since I have done a post about my hair.

I originally created this blog to document my hair journey ie, the

ups & downs etc but since my hair has been in pretty good shape lately

I just neglected to share (pretty selfish of me huh?).

I narrowed down the amount of products I use

considerably (except the ABBA deep conditioner, of course). Believe me.

Once I found these babies I chucked

all the others. They are sulfate free, packed with detangling emollients

& indeed infused with moisture. They are gentle

yet they clean the hair sooooooo well.

Well, the products that have been working so MAGNIFICENTLY

are by ELUCENCE :

1. Volume Clarifying Shampoo(gentle enough to use every wash) YEP!

2. Moisture Benefits Shampoo

3. Moisture Balancing Conditioner (can also be used as a leave in).

THESE BABIES ARE JUST PRECIOUS!!

A little goes a long way!!

The trio includes the Pomegranate, Jasmine &

Rasberry flavours. If you are famaliar with this brand

you already know they use mostly organic ingredients

to make their products.

These butters are also available in a pot

that you stick your finger into to get to the product.

However I find the tubes more hygienic.

They glide on the lips like no other, soften and

moistrizes with a hint of color. Great for the winter months
They are lip conditioners that also gives a bit of colour.

Where Are My Shoes??!!!

I love to organize my shoes in boxes

to protect them from dust etc. HOWEVER,

when store I them in boxes It gets very frustrating

when I am in a hurry and I have to open 100 boxes before

I get to the pair of shoes I really need!!

To resolve this problem I thought about taking pictures

of the shoes and putting them on the outside of the boxes.

That seem pretty time consuming & I know I would never

get around doing it until 2015!. Until i found KIS Shoe Box...

This is typically how I would store my shoes in the closet...

I can look to see the pair I want and pull it out.
